Kids Car Seat - Front or Rear Facing
Discussion
Need to get another seat for the little one but in a debate with MrsB about whether to go front or rear facing. Elder is in a front facing, enjoys it a lot looking out of the window and certainly helps a lot on long journeys. No incidents so no real issues to worry about however the world of social media has it that they are death traps and they should be rear facing only.

General advice is rear facing for as long as possible, but as a minimum - by law - is until at least 15 months.
It's very child dependent though. Mine have remained rear facing until they were about 2, after which they started getting annoyed with not being able to see out. In that case a shouting/distracting child is far more a danger than the orientation of the seat.
The swivel seat we have, which will last my son until he is about 4, gives us the choice of front or rear facing with very little hassle.

As above, swivel seats are good - Joie spin 360 was our seat of choice, put child in when facing the door, then turn them to either face out the back or when the crying and complaining gets too much turn them to face the front.
Normally the crying and complaining only starts when they are old enough to be forward facing, and allows you to see what child is up to. I can clearly remember when our rear-facing daughter worked out how to unbuckle herself and climb forward to see what was happening - mid-drive.
(Kids seatbelts are designed to be able to be undone by child when needed incase they need to get out and the adults are unable to get to them.)
