Hi All,
I stumbled across this when searching for open source hearing aids after fustrations with my father-in-laws support.

Apple have enabled some hearing aid functions on the Airpod Pro 2 and Pro 3 ear buds, which can help with mild to moderate hearing loss.
This is actual hearing aid functionality and not just frequency corrected bluetooth streaming.

Google tells me this feature is now enabled in the uk. (Hearing aids are medical devices so all sorts of approvals have to me met). Apple availability page:
https://www.apple.com/uk/airpods-pro/feature-avail...

Good article from the guardian:

You tube review from Audilology lecturer reviewing the airpod 2 pro:

I am also starting to get some hearing loss (many years of drumming and driving open top cars!) - not bad enough for hearing aids at my last test, but am staritng to find hearing people in noisy environments is a struggle. Has anyone tried them yet and how have they found them for improving hearing conversations in noisy environments?

Edited to add a good guide on setting up the AirPod pro 3 buds:

Following as I'm in a similar situation. Made worse by the loss of hearing in one ear when I was very young.

I've been looking at the Nuance audio glasses but at £1k a 5 minute trial in the shop is not good enough for me to make a decision.

I purchased a pair on Thursday with the intention of using them solely as hearing aids. They get good reviews.
I have mild hearing loss and found the increase in hearing to be negligible.
I do not find them comfortable and even with the smallest ‘bud’ they don’t feel secure in my ear and have already fallen out twice – but that is probably my ear shape/size.

Apple has a two week return policy on the product (for any reason) – so it was worth trying them but I have already decided that they are not for me.

I understand they have a 30 day return policy. I didn’t look at them in detail because the battery life is poor. Perhaps this will improve on further generations.

I haven't tried them and luckily do not require hearing aids (at the moment). I suspect the major drawback would be that someone would presume you were listening to music etc rather than listening to the person talking.
