Not gold unfortunately otherwise I could have tried a magnet.
Tiny flaw in that plan...I don't know why people are so squeamish - to quote a film "s
t wipes off". It certainly boils off. Maybe if it had gone through someone else's gut I'd think more deeply about it, not quite so bothered when it's mine.
If the thing is salvageable then why not?
Back in the day my young son was fooling about with a coin on his top lip and accidentally swallowed it. We phoned the doctor's surgery and their main interest was "what coin was it?". As it happens, it was 1p coin.
After learning the size of the coin they advised that "all being well, nature will take its course". After a day or so poking about with a stick it turned out they were absolutely right.

I've cleaned a gearbox casing in the dishwasher which smelt a bit but it's never occurred to me to try that; how long did it take for the stench to dissipate? I don't know why people are so squeamish - to quote a film "s
t wipes off". It certainly boils off.
