Scuppered my knee last October (first and only parkrun, steep hill), didn't feel it until later/the next day. NHS Physio said Meniscus within 2 seconds of me speaking but didn't seem especially interested. Went back recently as generally no improvement with her exercises and one night I needed to take pain killers to sleep (only occasion thankfully). Referred to MSK - first appointment on the phone - but we do have BUPA through work so if it needs an intervention I'll get it done privately (as chief plate-spinner I'm conscious that claim = premium hike).

Walk a chunk and row (machine/gently) a lot. If I don't row it's more painful, or if I try and do fast intervals my knee hates me the next day (no problems at all during exercise). Driving is the thing where it is most painful - I guess the vibration (left leg, automatic car). Walking along a contour/camber can be painful.

I've bought a few various knee braces and things, there's one (Neo-G) that if I do up really tightly it seems to help, but can't wear it for too long. Because I've looked online recently at fancier supports, my targeted advertising is braces galore. I don't care how much it costs if there's something out there that will help. Brands that pop up include Reabtec & Anaconda but I have no idea if they are any good. FWIW the physio said don't bother with supports.

The big players, for decades are Ossur, Donjoy, Bauerfeind and Breg.

Expect quality to equal cost though

Cheap =shoddy in my opinion. They just wear out and break, and you then have to buy a good one.

Thank you very much.

My phone appointment came early, and was in fact a call to book a face-to-face MSK appointment (a week Friday). I'll wait and see what they think is going on, but happy to buy something if and when I get a proper diagnosis.
