Hi, wondering if anyone else has experienc of this.

Over past few months I have started to experience a really sharp stabbing pain on the outside of my leg when crossing it over to put on my socks.

One leg only.

Can move it up and down perfectly fine (riding a bike would be no problem) but it's when i try to cross it over the other to put socks on or tie up shoe laces.

Dr's appt incoming, but theres a huge wait list so thought i would ask the great and good on here if anyones experienced the same?

Old age and Iliotibial band syndrome.. worth seeing if the symptoms fit.

Hip problem is quite likely there.

Painful buggers large joints are when they start to play up.

Gentle movement should help but you need to get it looked at if it doesn't settle.

Here you go:

There's no specific cure - you just have to stop doing what makes it hurt & try & strengthen the thigh muscles. I've been suffering for four months now.

For the love of Dog.
You haven't been diagnosed, by a couple of paragraphs, and a couple of blokes on a car forum.

Go and get examined, and give someone a full history.

Don't know how i missed this - but you are totally correct , but given my appt is over 3 weeks away i was just hoping to seek some comfort in that other people may have experienced it - and it wasnt going to fall off in the meantime...
