Has anyone ever used bio oil? I've got a few deep scars that I'm hoping to improve in appearance.

I have a horrible scar on my nose. I used bio oil for a while and it helped a bit. But is still taken almost a whole year for the scar tissue to change into my normal skin colour if that makes sense.

Go for it, just don't expect results over-night.

My OH has had very good results using it, both evening out skin tone and reducing scars.

I use it as a moisturiser berfore bed.

Don't expect miracle results but over time yes, it has helped to fade most of my acne scarring.

I think the stuff is great.

Very good stuff as mentioned above. One problem... It makes you smell like a Chinese Takeaway!

There is another product similar that I have tried - smells nice, same effects, and cheaper than Bio Oil. I have chucked the bottle, so can't remember the name. Morrisons sell it.

Thanks for the comments. I'm not looking for overnight results - just as long as the horrible purple scars on my foot gradually fade and improve and I can wear nice shoes again!

I was reading some blurb about Bio-oil at work today. The manufacturers say you have to use it twice a day for six months.

Just got some more. It's called Rescue Oil, and distributed by Heathpoint.

Honestly, you won't smell like you have rubbed stir-fry oil all over you if you use this one! There is a slight flowery scent, but very subtle.

If the scar is still purple the bio oil will work quicker than an older whiter/silvery scar. I took a lot of layers of skin off my knee just over a year ago, it's still very noticeable but it improved massively when I started using bio oil on it.

I tried it on some bad stretch marks ive got, i tried it on some fresh deep red ones, and some older ones too, i found it made next to no difference, but others have found it to work.

Got to be worth a try though if its something your self concsious about.

It does take time. Some say six months, but I gues it depends on the severity of the scars/stretch marks.

I have dark skin, so my scars are a very dark brown. Not noticeable when I tan though, so ideally I should live in a hot country!

After about 4 months of bio oil use though, the improvement is pretty impressive - even if I have no tan. The effects remain too, even if you stop using it.

I have a few recent scars that I want to treat, so giving it another go.
