Over the last few weeks I have been experiencing a loud pulsing sound in my right ear. The sound is worse/more noticable in the evening or night when I lay down. It's driving me nuts!

Anyone else have the same? Any luck getting to the bottom of it?

Is it you actual pulse, or random thumps?
It could be just a muscle spasm, like an eye twitch (which can be brought on by stress) or maybe you are getting a little bunged up with earwax.

Google "Tensor Tympani Myoclonus"

Does that describe your symptoms?

I had this for about 2 months earlier this year, drove me crazy. Then it just stopped and hasnt come back.

From what I can gather on the net there are only a couple of treatments for it, muscle relaxants and a surgery which bisects the offending muscle and stops it fluttering/pulsing.

Defo my pulse I can hear. Sounds like blood whooshing/flowing. Very frustrating.

I'll do a Google for the condition suggested. Thanks.

TTM is a fluttering/popping noise, its quite distinctive and can be fast or slow.

I too used to get it more at night whilst trying to get to sleep, v annoying.

I remember an ex gf who had a noisy blood vessel in her head.
I didn't bring it up, but i always wondered if she could hear it herself.
