Does anyone know what this type of running is called?

Basically run for say 8 minutes, walk for 1 minute, run for 8 minutes etc etc.

Its the new thing i hear.

used to do something similar in the late seventies.run 100m (sprint) walk 200m and jog 100m then repeat

Yeh it sounds like Fartlek or HIIT, but the intense part is usually the shorter section. Sprint for 30 seconds, jog for 2 minutes etc, the sprint for 30 seconds etc...there are many many variations.

I do this but with 5 min intervals; walk 5 run 5 etc... Im thinking the walking needs to be reduced.
