Amniotic band seen at 21 weeks

We went for a 21 week scan yesterday, Baby is fine although they could see what they were calling an Amniotic band. They said it can be common and in the majority of cases the babe just pushes it out the way and nothing comes of it (its not attached). (From the reading i've done it sounds more like a sheet than a band and was clearly visable on US)
They have said they would like to do another scan at 28 weeks due to the band and also because the wife’s BMI is 19. She eats loads and is very fit and active. All bloods etc are perfect so not really a concern.
When we got home last night the wife Googled it and saw all the horror stories about possible effects and after two previous miscarriages this was really the last thing we needed!
We had a 4D scan at 17 weeks and there was no issue and the band is not currently causing an issue which from what i have read is a good sign, has anyone else had any experience?

At our 20 week scan with number 1, they said that the placenta was sited really low and that we would have to come back for scans and tests. This worried us as we had a previous M/C. When we went back for the scan, it had moved and sorted itself out. It's amazing what the human body can fix itself without any interference.
I wouldn't get too worried about it, it's not worth the stress to your wife. She already committed the cardinal sin of scaring herself in the internet. Just relax, go for your extra scan and see what they say then.

Hey everyone, thanks for the reassurances.
Nether me or the wife can bare waiting 7 weeks for something that may or may not even be worth worrying about so I have booked a private 4D scan tomorrow morning.
They are going to take a good look and explain in detail what is actually going on, risks and likelihood of anything actually happening. Basically everything that the hospital should but don’t do.
Hopefully it will set our minds at ease and will certainly be worth the money for piece of mind. If its good news then great we can start enjoying it again, if its bad, then it no worse than it is now and we just have to get on with it and hope for the best.

I went for a private 20 week scan with a consultant at the leading hospital in my area - not the local small one I would deliver at - due to a catergory of issues with my first two pregnancies. The consultant identified two possibly serious issues - which we thought we could clearly see on the scan. We were pretty scared.
One nessesitated a trip to great ormond street for fetal echo - that problem was then found not to exist.
The second problem was also found not to exist at a later scan at our local hospital.
The consultant was mortified and very apologetic - apparently she hadn't got 2 things wrong in her long career ever!
I could also relay the story of the vanishing and reappeating amniotic fluid in pgs 1 and 2. It vanished completely at one point and I was ready to deliver when it reappeared!
Please don't frighten yourself with the internet. Can you contact your hospital with the questions you now have - we often think of things when we get home?

Update, possibly the best £100 I have ever spent.
Yes there is an amniotic band but with its position, size etc, babes position and development there is very little risk to him, so fingers crossed all is well. We can atleast now chill out and relax and get back to enjoying it.
Not wanting too moan about the NHS and certainly not the staff but privately the scan was much better in general. I suppose being private and not pressured by those above, he was able to take much more time with us explaining every thing in detail, he did the whole 20 week scan in 2D, all measurements, checking heart beat, stomach, kidneys etc then switched to 4D to try and get a couple of pictures although baby didn’t really want to play ball. I will try and get the pictures uploaded later, we even have a couple of the Amniotic band.

May I know where did you go for your private scan? £100 is really a good spent for the scans that you have got. So far, all i have been quoted is £250 for a 2D anomaly scan, if further 4D scan like to be done, I need to pay extra £150. Whenver I ask them which scan should I go for in order to see hows the condition of the band but they always reply me by saying it is up to me to decide which scan I trust. Should I go for 4D or another anomaly scan again? I try to stay positive but I still can't hold myself from worrying and crying every now and then. Especially when my baby is not kicking, it makes me wonder whether it is the band that tie him that make him not moving..
