loss of sense of smell

Can a loss of sense of smell be attributable to stress or anxiety?

no. from a neurological point of view i can't see why it would.

how is your taste? do you smoke/drink alcohol regularly (or have you increased cigarette smoking lately - if you smoke?)

Coming from any cold or anything ? Any physical changes etc ?

No i don't smoke and no, no physical changes but i have been in the proximity of my less than 2 year old grand children all week and could not tell that they had st their pants. Also i really can't smell anything!

Been to GP today and he has refered me to the ENT section of my local hospital.

Have you been exposed to sulphur dioxide?

No exposure to any out of the ordinary stuff, and to be honest I can't remember the last thing or time I actually smelled anything, I only noticed because we have been away on a family holiday with an 18 month old and a 9 month old.
With regards to tumor or MS i do not get headaches of blurry vision and no sign of.

Viral infection (cold etc) most common cause and loss may be permanent if not resolved within 3- 6 months. Other causes range from nasal polyps, through to early Parkinson's. Common things happen commonly though so don't get too worried - ENT first port of call. Nothing you can do until then.

No teeth problems either, really is odd! awaiting ENT appointment.

On the other hand, it opens up the door to a whole new set of jobs that previously you'd have shunned (sewage works employee, drain unblocker, toilet cleaner...).
