Does anyone here train for strongman or power lifting based events? It's something I've been getting into recently so'd be interested in variations on training etc (I know there are a few powerful folk on here!)

I'm currently doing Wendler's 5/3/1 at the moment to overcome a few plateaus I met recently, seems to be working too. Also doing a lot of grip work (pinching/grippers etc) and steel bending (6" nails and so on) On a few training sites but pistonheads always throws up new things!

Been doing it for a while but it seems to be my thing at the moment. Any comments welcome.

Cheers

I do not train for events but I started Bill Starrs 5x5 last year. I enjoyed it immensely. Never done any Olympic lifts before. Not currently doing it at the mo, but when I start back up I was looking for an interesting routine.
I will take a look at yours.

hehe, yeah...cheers biggrin

I used to train for strongman events and powerlifting, wasn't very good at the latter, but it was soooo long ago

We used a modified 5x5 from time to time, then sometimes we would mix it up with a custom routine written by ourselves and inspected by our gym guru which worked well, but a hell of a lot of workload would end up with me injured again.
