I've just come across the new (ish) chain of gyms called 'The Gym Group'

http://www.thegymgroup.com/

Whilst they dont have pools, sauna's etc they seem to have decent gym kit and all for 15 quid a month with no annual contract.

How do they do this for 15 quid a month?

Has anyone eever attended one of these no frills bargain basement gyms?

What are they like?

Blimey.

My gym is only £15 a month and I wouldn't say it is bargain basement at all, just a standard fitness type gym that has a good enough selection of free weights for me.

I just think most gyms are horrendously overpriced.

The place above looks interesting however, my nearest one is in Hounslow, such a shame, I will not go to a gym in Hounslow.

Unfortunately, any gym that costs just £15 a month for membership is going to be habitated by the most god awful clientelle.

It'll be full of posy chavs, tts and Eastern Europeans, who will hog the equipment, leave everything in a mess, and bawl at you for getting between them and the mirror, so they can check their bicpes when doing curls.

I'm a member of PureGym in Manchester paying £10 per month and that's definately not the case. It's full of solicitors, barristers, accountants, media types, etc, etc.

It's cheap because it's no frills - no reception or receptionist. No coffee bar, sauna, aerobics studio, jaccuzi. All the equipment is brand new and good quality and the people in there are very pleasant. There were far more chavs in Holmes Place in Didsbury where me and Mrs JQ were paying £120pcm.

one hundred and twenty pounds a month for two people? What did you get after the sauna, a blowjob?

Whereas if you pay more you get a gym that is full of chavs that leave their chavmobiles parked in the disabled slots, and spend the whole time doing beach weights.

It irks me that when I go to my regular gym there is usually one BMW X5 or an Audiwkmobile that some spraytanned muscle bound spikey haired tt has decided to plonk in the few disabled zones.

Apparently, in Nottingham they tend to be yellow Porsche Boxters.
