I used it on my son when he was very small, as the treatments offered by the health visitor made it many times worse.

This was some time ago, before every high street had a shop, but the doctor I went to was just off Carnaby Street, and gave me a cream for him and a special tea, and it worked wonders.

Thankfully he has not had the problem since.

Sorry the hear that. I occasionaly got mild eczema as a child which I remember being no fun whatsoever.

I'm personally slightly dubious about Chinese Medicine after being stung massivley for a 'cure to' insomnia. Tasted like sewer-water and didn't help in the slightest.

In reply to the eczema question I seem to remember just being told to use a certain type of non-steroidal cream as it could be used to my hearts content as and when I needed it, though I'm sure you've already tried most things.

sorry to hear about how bad your Eczema has gotten.

I had it when i was young all over my body , the doctors tried everything to get rid of it but nothing worked. Until my parents read up about balneum, i got the bath solution. This was the only thing that helped me and my skin condition was gone after about 6 months.

The doctors wont mention the bath solution as its expensive however insist on it as i feel its one of the only things that worked for me.

I had pretty bad eczema on my hands for 10-15 years. Itchy, dry, peeling, cracking, oozing... more so when stressed. I've tried pretty much every cream out there... nothing really worked. Some just kept the symptoms at bay but the minute I stopped using whatever it was, the symptoms would come back. Someone suggested I "lubricate from within". WTF? She meant I should try drinking more water (I was drinking maybe 2-3 cups of tea/coffee a day!!)... so I try to make sure I drink enough to make my urine fairly clear... and I know if I'm not drinking enough if it is yellow and notice the skin starts to get itchy.

I am under a lot of stress at the moment but cant do much about it.
I started drinking lots of water, and today as its sooooooo hot I thought fk it, and put loads of cream and sun lotion on and played golf, (in the direct sun) will have to see what happens tonight, as my skin normally starts inching and weeping in the middle of the night.

I also went to the Chinese shop yesterday and they gave me a thick green cream and lots of little white balls (tablets) I have to TAKE 40 YES 40 tablets a day, 20 in the morning and 20 in the evening, they are like little white balls and you can down them all in one.
The cream and tablets cost £20 in total, the tablets will last 5 day.

so hopefully it will work.

Have a word with your GP about PUVA treatment, my wife has severe eczema and this did help, although it does involve taking psychlosporin which can lead to some unpleasant side effects.

You must keep your skin VERY well moisturised at all times this is key. You can get emollient creams and oils to add to your bath to help with this.

Try to see what "trigger points" make your eczema flare up, stress is a major cause but don't forget that food intolerance and house dust mites can also cause lots of problems.

It is a dreadful condition, but don't give up! With careful management and identifying the main trigger points you can feel an awful lot better!

Hope they're not moth balls!

Someone once said to me that a dip in the Red Sea helped them? Just a thought, but quite far to go every time its bad!

I had very bad eczema (same as you described, cracked, weeping and very sore looking) on the back of my legs for several years when I was in school. I was once asked by a substitute teacher if I had been in a horrific accident.

I also went through all the steroid creams, plus antibiotics because the doctor said the weeping could be a sign of infection. None of them worked.

The only time it ever got better was in the summer when three weeks of the holiday involved the beach and going in to the sea every day. Salt water worked absolute miracles on it. Stung like a bh for the first few minutes but by the end of the three weeks it would be almost completely gone (I eventually grew out of it after 4 years and now only get mild eczema on my arms).

So, I'd suggest running a luke-warm bath with just water and a sprinkle of salt and then hop in. It IS going to sting, but after a few days the difference should be noticable.

With regards to eczema and depression, I've had it since I was 2 years old so it's always been a part of my life and no longer bothers me. I was bullied in school but for some reason my eczema was the one thing no one commented on unless they were asking if it was ever going to get better.

the tablets are called pi fu bing xue du wan, i think its just mixed herbs, i had a look online and a few places said it was good for eczema, the cream is gren hebs, called shi xhen ling,
the cream works on less affected areas, and for tablets im still not sure, becuase my eczema seems to be slightly clearing, but i dont know if its the pills or the sun, so will continue and see what happens.

My girlfriend sufferd quite badly from this when she was younger. Her parents spent ALOT of money per month on chineese medicine and it worked. She now only has some very minor scarring on her legs.

Definetly give it a try.

Ah, right, well, it's worth a try as at least you know it's the right stuff he's giving you (comparing it to info online).

I too have suffered quite badly have just done all the antibiotics etc tried all the creams especially the ones that dry the skin that badly it cracks and bleeds.

the best thing to use is Epiderm might need doc to prescribe it and it doesnt have steriods in it, its like grease and is a bit of a pain especially on your hands as you end up getting it everywhere but i highly recommend it to ease the pain and it stops the skin drying, seems to be the only thing that worked for me and i had it bad!

I had pretty bad eczema when I was younger on the backs of my legs and on the joint on my arms.

I occasionally get it when it heats up and I sweat or when I get stressed.

It used to clear completely for 3 weeks of the year when I was on holiday contstantly in the sea. Maybe worth taking a dip if you are close to the coast.
