I want to buy my girlfriend an abdominal trainer for Christmas (no she isn't fat before anyone asks, she weighs 47kg!!).

Can someone recommend a make / model? Price isn't an issue, just want something that is decent.

So currently her stomach is flat (there is no fat) and she wants to develop a six pack, yes?
Case 1) her stomach is flabby: cardio work is the only way forward; you cannot locally burn fat
Case 2) she is perfectly modelled and wants to tone up: she's better off just doing loads of crunches and hanging leg raises - buy her a chin up bar of some sort. Those contraptions you lie in are not very good as it's quite a light resistance you're pushing against.

Yes she has very very low body fat levels, stomach is completely flat. She already does a fair amount of work in the gym training 4 or 5 days a week, combination of cardio and weights and has good muscle tone. She uses a floor cruncher at the gym, and just wants one for home if she can't get to the gym and misses a session. She finds them easy to use. I do crunches without a the use of a machine.. she just prefers to use one.

In that case, might as well get the cheapest adjustable one. She should also consider doing planks and side planks.

PS TTIWWP. wink

This looks good, whether it provides results I have no idea:-

I was joking. Don't. Or at least remove her face so photoshoppers can't do anything.

Yep good point... I have been on PH a very long time, and know what happens to threads once people start posting up photos! Don't want to end up on the Legendary thread list smile

Get her some adjustable dumbells and show her how to do Turkish get ups and windmills.
Will do a lot more for her than crunches.

If she wants her abs to grow she'll need to use some weight.

Leg raises on a bench holding 6kg between her feet 3 x 10

Crunches holding 10kg 3 x 10

Then go to work on obliques/intercostals.

Abs are just like any other muscle in the body in that they respond to short sets and quite heavy weights.

The portable version of abs machines are all a waste of time,a gimmick.
