Got a doctors appointment booked for January to see about getting a vasectomy. Thing is, I've been in to see them before a few years ago, and was told I couldn't have it done on the NHS as I was too young (23 at the time). I'm now 27, and my view is still the same. I already have a son, but I have no desire to have more kids.

Anybody shed any light on how the conversation is likely to go with my GP? I'm pretty sure they view is still going to be that I'm too young, but my mind is rather set on the matter. If they say I can't have it on the NHS, what are my options for going private?

I know the general viewpoint is that I'm a bit young to be thinking about stuff like this, and I should wait until I'm a bit older (again) before commiting to something that can't really be reversed without a fair bit of difficulty. However, I've put a lot of thought into this, and I'm aware of the future implications.

Any advice or suggestions would be much appreciated!

Marie Stopes currently have an offer on if you have it done in the 1st quarter of next year...what a strange bargain!

I ried several years ago but they said no based on age. Went private last month and it was fine. I had non-scalpel surgery, and pain was gone 48hrs later. The only issue was when I told the shrink that we already had two children, she wrote it down in her notes before I corrected her by saying our "children" were in fact dogs.
