Well its 12 months since I started weight training at the gym.
Last January - Age 38, 6'3'', 85kgs. Bit of a belly, but skinny everywhere else. I was fit, but didn't really look it.
Started with Stronglifts 5x5 program, and have basically stuck with big compound moves all year. Three times a week rain or shine.

Bench was 45kg, now 80kg, Squat was 50kg, now 90kg. Couldn't do 3 pull ups, can now do 3 x 10. Similar improvements in most lifts.

Weight has stayed the same at 86kg, but chest has increased by 2 inches and belly reduced by same.

Put on an old polo shirt today as its dress down day and it keeps riding up my arms. Its so tight in fact that it looks a bit ghey if I'm honest. Feels good though; and makes all the effort worthwhile. Can't wait to see old friends and folks at Christmas.

Anyone else pleased with their progress this year?

Well done on the change! The 5x5 routine is a good one that seems to work well!

Worst 'I've got big guns' thread ever wink

Well done though, sounds like great progress.

Oh, and don't worry about the ghey thing. Tight T-shirts are de rigeur when you start working out LOL

In my case it wasn't intentional... All the clothes I bought about 6 months ago have become quite snug around the chest. Either they have shrunk or I have expanded (I expect the latter, 6 months on the beer and in the gym has put both good and bad weight on).

when trainging your weight is not the yardstick.

It should be your body measurements.

Arms, Chest, Neck, Thighs, Calfs, etc.

Measure all those and then monitor them.

Then look forward to struggling to get clothes that fit.

I haven't done any serious training for a couple of years, so the gut has increased.

When it was 36 (now 40) i'd struggle to get into jeans.

Size 36 were way too tight on the thighs. a 40 had to be bunched right in on the waist and just looked st.

Still struggle now.

Hired a tux the other week for a do.

48" chest, but the 48" was too big in front, and was tight on the forearms, size 50 was ridiculous could've got someone else in the front as well.
