Online contact lens suppliers

Have been using a company that supplies Vision Directly to my eyes using contact lenses. Unfortunately, they have really not impressed me with a cock up and follow up to a recent order, and I would like to change suppliers.

Can anyone recommend a good supplier (that they have used)? I traditionally use the Ciba Vision lenses so someone that supplies them would be ideal.

I use http://www.contactforlenses.com/ and have never had a problem with them. Delivery can sometimes take a while (two or three weeks) but other than that they've been good.

Legally contact lenses can only be supplied to a written prescription from an optician, and you still require your contact lens checks for a valid prescription.

www.visiondirect.co.uk - I have been using these guys for about 8 years. Plus their normal delivery is about 2 days.
B&L soft dailies are £60 ish for 90 pairs inc P&P

I use www.contactsuniverse.co.uk , never had a problem and been using them for years. They're all much of a muchness tbh, just look at them all and see who has offers on.

My hint was in the thread title - have had a good relationship with these guys for the same amount of time but now gone a bit sour - they don't really seem interested in chasing problems up.

+1 for these guys (although I've never been that long for delivery)

They don't require a current prescription (based in channel Islands) although you're better to get your eyes checked regularly .

I use the same optician as the OP but same lenses from them are expensive in comparison and for my prescription they take about the same time to deliver.

Can I encourage everyone to have a regular eye exam? I get my lenses online (I use LensPlanet - good but were slow the last time) but I had an eye appointment yesterday where the chap identified some early signs of Macular Degeneration. I'm mid 40's, so that is not normal. Big wake up call for me.

Get your eyes checked, folks.

Yes, I would agree with this, but the High St. shops were just taking the piss .. every second time I went in they wouldn't give (ha! .. sell) me my lenses until I had had some sort of checkup, at, funnily enough, a cost of £20-30.

Now I buy online for a year, then get one set from the (previously mentioned ) opticians and a test, that way it's under my control.

I would agree. I did have an enlightened optician (Gregory & Seeley) who would charge the Internet rate (but only once I told them I was buying elsewhere). Meant they stayed in touch with me (for regular eye exams) and (presumably) made a small margin on my consumeables.

Think this is a simple commodity tbh - I just look online for the cheapest when I need more, and then ask my optician if they want to price match, which they generally do these days.

I can recommend www.lensway.co.uk. I've been using them for the past few years and everything has always arrived within a couple of days. Only had to deal with customer services once when I ordered a +ve prescription instead of -ve, the replacements were sent out the same day before I'd sent the wrong ones back, all I had to pay was the postage to send them back.
