Fluid/buildup behind eardrum
Discussion
Had the winter cold/cough/sore throat which started two weeks ago.
Felt fine a couple of days ago, then woke up at 2am this morning with a really sore throat, full of snot/phlegm and pressure in my right ear.
Went to the docs as the hearing in that ear was almost non existent, everything muffled and loud noises manifest as high pitched tones. Was concerned my eardrum had burst
Doc checked my eardrum it's fine, no swelling, no redness, no soreness. Doc said it should clear on its own in the next few days.
Anyone else had similar? Any tips or tricks to help the fluid/buildup dislodge? It's getting really annoying now, my balance is off and getting really pee'd off with the hearing loss.

I usually get ear problems with a cold, poorly draining eustachian tubes I've been told.
To clear them I use a Neilmed Sinurinse which is basically a way of shooting warm saline solution around your sinuses, available from boots. it's not as bad as it sounds and works quickly.
If you don't fancy that try steaming your head over a bowl of boiling water a couple of times a day, loosens everything up.
Drinking plenty of water helps it all drain too.
Whatever you do don't pinch your nose and blow, that won't help at all when there's gunk in your tubes.

No problem, I remember how pissed off I used to get with it. Used to last for weeks with me too.
If your local Boots don't have sinurinse then there's plenty of places to buy online or you could DIY:
