teeth whitening

Sorry if its been done before but after losing my patience with the search option I gave up!

Iv got quite dark teeth... Mixture of not brushing properly when I was younger and dark drinks.
That's not the only problem though.
I have white patches on my front top teeth.
I've had the patches since I got my adult teeth and they won't go! Don't know what they are but they make my teeth look even darker.

Can anyone recommend a good whitening option? I don't want to use abrasives or ones that will give me sensitive teeth as I've heard that can happen.

Its always bothered me but just lately I've been noticing it a lot more

I think I could get away with the gold teeth look. Or maybe not!

Haha I'm not talking about ross or hamster style, just something I'm not so self conscious about really.

IIRC whitening teeth bleaches the enamel and once you've done that they are more prone to darkening as you've damaged the natural defences? Non?

It's a bit like going to the gym whereas you're never totally happy with the whiteness, or size of muscles in the former case.

Done properly by a qualified professional it's very safe. You probably have fluorosis (cant say for sure without looking at your teeth), whitening can even out the colour of such appearances.
Best to speak to your dentist/hygienist.
