Hi,
just looking around and the prices of these appear to have dropped to sensible levels from what I last remember. However, I'm not clear on if there are limitations on what they will talk to -

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0007VB4IE/ref=...

is what I'm looking at, and theres a phone app that will talk to it, but I'm concerned at the mention of third party licensing about it. Surely they just say 'heres a signal, use it as you will' without requiring apps developers to get licensing?

If this is the case, are there any out there without such restrictions?

Bump! So I ordered from amazon.. then realised it was not a bluetooth one. Goodness knows why their borked search comes it with it first for 'bluetooth heart rate monitor'.

Returned it and ordered the correct one from http://www.heartratemonitor.co.uk which arrived yesterday and works nicely, only tried with endomondo so far.

If you are spending a decent wad of cash why not just get a Garmin? What sport is it for?

I forked out recently for an HRM wrist watch thingy and it's rubbish so when funds allow I'll get a G.
