I've had hayfever for as long as I can remember. Last year I used one of those things you put in your nose for 2 minutes everyday.. Actually seemed to work!

Anyone had hayfever this year yet? I can start to smell grass being cut so guess it won't be long now..

Does the nose thing help the eyes at all? Although I do get a sniffly nose, my main issue is itchy eyes - drives me crazy!

I used to get eyes, but since using the nose thing I didn't appear to get any, and I wasn't taking any tablets or whatever either. I did use eye drops at the beginning of the "season" for a few days though.

At this time of year it won't be the cutting of the grass you're alergic to. Grass isn't flowering now, it'll be wind-bourne tree pollen that you are allergic to this time of year.

I get it was grass pollens, early-mid summer, mainly the 24/7 congested, turns me into a gurning idiot about to sneeze, puffy, itchy eyes, itchy throat and back of the nose. Been on those yellow eyedrops that you can taste down the back of your throat, beconase nose spray, tablets and when it gets bad enough, steriod injections.

This looks like a newer version of it..

Edit; Found it on a few places, Lloyds had it on special offer last year around Spring so either wait out or get it from "Very".

Oh right, thanks! I know they were cutting the grass outside work and it didn't affect me, I thought it would.

Will start using the hayfever thing in a month or so I think.

It's pollen in the air that causes hayfever. It grips my st when they advertise hayfever relief with a bunch of pretty flowers - pretty flowers are pollenated by bees, not the wind, hayfever sufferers can be around pretty flowers all day long, it's the grasses, trees and air pollenated plants that get us.

Start using it when you feel the symptoms, not just because it's 'about that time of year'

TBH, I find different brands and rememdies work for different people, I've recomended stuff that works for me to people and they find it useless. It's all about experimenting when it comes to drugs wink

What he said ^^^

Some stuff people recommend (the most common once a day type stuff), is rubbish for me. I take the Blue Top Benadryl (3 a day) and it's amazing how effective they are. But that's just me.

You have to play with them until you find what works.

Hayfever and I do not get along. I wake up with 2 blocked nostrils and wonder how I didn't suffocate overnight! If a blocked nose is your weakness get some properly strong Airwaves, they work a treat.

I'd like something for my eyes though. I always try and refrain for rubbing the hell out of them but it gets me eventually.

I used them last year too, not for long but when my eyes got bad (Near the beginning of the season) and they were effective.

I used to suffer terribly from Hayfever but since I started using Beconase nasal spray (summer 1986), I've never had any problems.

However other sufferers that tried Beconase on my recommendation, found it did not relieve their syptoms.

I initially used Beconase with a booster of Polaramine tablets, taking one or two tablets at night before bed, during the first month of summer. However starting about ten years ago, I couldn't get hold of Polaramine from my GP in UK and since then have just used Beconase. Two sniffs each nostril after waking up and before going to bed, usually do the trick. But if I am in particularly green surroundings, I need to take an extra sniff or two during the day as well.

If nothing else works for you, give Beconase a try. You can buy it over the counter at Boots or other pharmacies.

I use Beconase in the summer, you have to keep up with the dose for it to work but I find I get side effects of it making my chest tight. I don't suffer from asthmna but it's what I'd imagine it to feel like, just can't get enough air in and it doesn't feel like my lungs can expand to their full capacity which is epecially undesirable when I want to get the bike out.
