Swollen ankles query

Woke up this morning and noticed that my ankles were slighly swollen, left ankle worse than the right one. Will try and get an appointment to see the Doc tomorrow morning but am surprised that its happenned overnight.
I do quite a bit of walking as I play golf regularly and they're not painful.

I've used google and it suggests high blood pressure is the cause - but surely the swollen ankles wouldn't just happen overnight, would it?

If you just need to urinate more often, try green tea (non-decaff!!). (But still see the doc!)

I don't take any pills. Having thought a bit more about it, I don't think I'm urinating enough, more water and I'll try some green tea. Although I still wake up at 4am to go.

No - though it could be hormone related. I'll have to wait till tomorrow and see what the doc says, it's a bit inconvenient as I've got a golf game booked for tomorrow morning. Our GP's surgery, you have to ring at 8am on the day - and then the phone seems to be constantly engaged, as everyone tries to get through...by 8.30am that days appointments are usually taken. They're shut at weekends too.

Typical the swelling had gone this morning.
Saw the Doc - nothing to worry about, slightly raised BP that needs to be checked in a couple of weeks time...and sent for blood tests.

Was going to suggest it may be a heart problem.

He's also booking me for an heart ultrasound scan...it did have a better name, but I forgot it...something eco cardiology.

Echocardiogram.

Used to check how efficiently your heart is pumping blood.

Quite an interesting thing to watch - I've had a couple of them recently.

He tried to mimic the action of the heart pumping when he was telling me about it - my eyes glazed over, and I resisted the urge to gag. I assured him my heart was fine with no irregular heartbeats, but I'm still getting the scan...plus a 30 min 'risk assessment' by the nurse in 10 days time.

It's not to measure an irregularity - that's what the ECG (Electrocardiogram) is for.

The echocardiogram is like a 'baby scan' - and is used to ensure the valves are working properly and the heart is pumping enough blood around.

What was your blood pressure and how old are you, out of interest.

I'm 34, 110kg 6'4" and mine was 143/82 last time I took it.....which is technically hypertensive I suppose??

My ankles are OK though!

Wasn't told what my bp was, just that it was slightly higher than it should be. Age 51 and a half
