Prescriptions

I've got a question:
When a doctor gives you a prescription and you take it to a pharmacy to be filled out, once they dispense it to you what happens to it, does it go back to the doctor or does it just get filed with someone/something somewhere?

I'm not talking repeat prescription forms but actual prescriptions on green paper.

What repeat prescription forms? all of my repeat prescriptions come on green prescription paper.

I would guess they go to the Local health authority and they can then claim the cost of the medication.

The bit of white paper that you tick the boxes and hand in, that gets sent to your doctor who approves it or now and then it comes back with a green slip.

What used to happen when I worked at Safeway about 10 years ago was once the script had been dispensed, it was sent to a pricing centre, where it is processed so the chemist gets the money for the items. It was then sent to the dept of health who have the job of checking the prescriptons. t(ey dont check every one but they do a fair few. The few that are checked and found to be false claims to free prescriptions are retained for action to be taken. the rest go into storage for six years and after six years finish up in a incinerator. Don't know if its still the same now, there was talk of them be stored electronically but not sure if it ever happened.

The green half gets sent away. They are checked for fraudulent exceptions and the pharmacy is paid accordingly.
The white repeat half should be returned to you.
