In the gym and especially when doing deadlifts and hyper-extensions, after I finish and put the weight down I have to sit down quick sometimes to keep from falling over. I've noticed that getting the breathing right during deadlifts is tricky so don't know if it's a lack of oxygen. Always well fed and watered so not that either.

I've always had a tendency to get light headed if I stand up too quickly and had a preventive heart effort test last year so don't think it's anything serious, it's just annoying.

Anyone else get this?

Do you hold your breath when you train? Need to tell yourself to keep breathing sometimes. biggrin

I do too, it generally happens when I lift more weight though. I think it's just a rush of blood to the head!

Do have to make an effort to breathe with the deadlifts for sure. Might just be low blood pressure but it helps to know other people suffer from the same thing!

Last summer I was training very hard and drinking lots and lots of water, I felt giddy and light headed. It was only when i looked in to it that I realised water is oky but some form of "rehydration" is required such as Isotonic drinks. Once I used them I felt much better. Not medical advice of course but worth a thought
