Unless the reader is very medically minded, s/he is very unlikely to know what you're talking about. At least give some examples of what you're referring to!

Not sure what ACE actually is but I have to have mine checked monthly. I have aggressive Sarcoidosis and ACE levels are an indicator of the spread of the disease.

Sorry should have expanded, my son had a heart scan last week and the consultant didn't say much, then we get a letter saying he is recommending the drugs ACE and/or ARB and we should read the 2nd page carefully as it has the risks involved, he told us to weigh up the risks and decide if we'd like the medication.

Now the problem, there was no second page so I called his office to talk to him about it and it seems he's gone to india for 3 weeks.

I have no idea what the medication is, what it's for, what the risks are or indeed if it's urgent.

I know I need an urgent meeting with him but just wanted to know if anyone used them and had any experience.

I am guessing that your consultant is suggesting angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors (eg lisinopril/ramipril/enalipril) or angiotensin receptor blockers (eg losartan).
Both are widely used for high blood pressure, and are also used in instances where patients may have soem degree of heart abnormality.

Your son's GP should have copies this letter (hopefully with the second page) so I would book an appt and have a chat with the GP. Even if the GP doesn't have the second page, the GP should be able to speak to the consultant's secetary/team and obtain the required information for you.
