If you could re-write a rule or bring in a new one, what would you do?

I'd like to see a sin-bin and anyone yellow carded goes there for 15 minutes before being allowed back on the field.

Mine is to replace penalties with extra time where a player is removed from each team every 5 minutes. Should be a bit more entertaining and less lottery-like than a shootout.

I'd like to see them try the "10 Yard" rule again, but properly this time. Last time it was rendered totally useless by it having to be used in conjunction with a yellow card.

It needs to be implemented independently of any other punishment and (like it is in Rugby) used on any occasion when any player (other than the team captain) says anything to the ref - however reasonable or justified he (or you) may feel it is.

That would be a massive contribution to the "RESPECT" campaign. Much more than any of the other toothless nonsense they're trying.

I would bring in a time keeper,he would stop and start the watch, when the ball goes out of play, injuries,or after a signal from the referee for the time wasting, i would reduce each half to 40 minutes to ensure the fans get a full 40 minutes of play, not the average 25 mins they get now, after all it`s not the cheapest day out nowadays.

They could start by enforcing the one on abusive behaviour, bring in TV replays, and ban fat fans from wearing the skin tight replica kits.

bring back the pass back rule, where keepers can pick up from throws and pass backs.

Would'nt mind seeing these extra officials behind the goal actually do something for a change.....never seen one give a decision or help the ref ever.

empowering linesmen and women to have confidence to make decisions to actually help the referee would be one thing I would do....

independent timekeeping is long long overdue for football...its worked in rugby league for years...

also I would ban TV cameras from the pitch until the proper end of the game - did anyone see the penalties at teh sheff weds v blackpool cup game last week? it looked to me like the cameraman was going to take the effin thing at one point...

a sin bin is a good idea but 10 mins is long enough

i'd introduce a rule banning the mention of football within earshot of me.

i'd also ban sports "news" from news channels. it's not news.

Anyone caught diving is made to stand hands tied behind their back on the goal line while every member of the opposing team gets free shots.
Anyone who rolls around on the floor after the lightest of taps then gets up and runs around 20 seconds later gets red carded.
The ref is given a steel gauntlet and anyone caught doing the puffed up chest / wild gesticulation / backchatting nonsense to the ref gets smacked across the face in the style of a medieval duel. Where several players are involved the ref gets to use a super soaker filled with piss.

Jumpers for goalposts, with members of the crowd to selected at random to adjudicate on whether a shot was in or hit the post.

If a player commits a foul, a member of the opposing team can restore honour by challenging him to a duel in the centre circle with weapons of his choice.

Drawn matches to be settled by a game of British Bulldog, using members of the opposing supporters.

Introduce a handicap system whereby the players of the team with the higher league position has lead weights sewn into their shirts
