Can Gary Peters save Hereford United from relegation?
Discussion
With Hereford United announcing yesterday that they were to install ex Shrewsbury Town manager Gary Peters as their new director of football, will they be able to stave off the threat of relegation?
I remember us being in a similar position last season, before an upturn in form allowed us to narrowly avoid the drop.
Guess it would also be interesting to see if there are any fellow Bulls fans on the forum or if anyone even knows the club exists!

I remember being where you were a couple of seasons ago.
Stockport County are now mid table in conference.
They were doing well in League One as well until their finances went tits up, then they had to get rid of their manager, points reductions etc. Seems to spiral downwards fairly quickly from there really. Has happened to quite a few larger clubs with Plymouth and Luton being two good examples. Trouble is, theres quite a few 'bigger' teams in the Blue Square Prem now and with only 2 teams being promoted every season, its getting increasingly difficult to get out of there! We were in there for a good 9 years the last time, i fear if we were to go down again, we could be looking at an even longer stay! Stockport County are now mid table in conference.
Hope you have a good season mate and hopefully we'll be playing you again next season! (With you guys getting promoted, not us lot going down!)

Not sure you'll stay up twice. Like has been said the blue square is awash with 'old'football league teams who are struggling against the new breed coming through. Just look at stevanage.
I've been to watch Fleetwood Town on and off over the last three years and they have literally spent millions (massive squad, new stand etc) and they will be a football league team this season if not next.
These are the teams that will be snapping at herefords heels so i'd be worried. Look at poor old lincoln ...safe mid season and then fell like a stone.

Yep, money is certainly a massive factor nowadays, just look at the likes of Crawley Town, how on earth they get round this 55% wage cap thing i'll never know, cuz i'll be damned if we can!
Was a weird one last season, thought Barnet and obviously Stockport were dead certs to go down, then Barnet change their manager albeit only for a few games, Lincoln go on a horrendous run of form and are relegated on the last day of the season! I see they are really struggling in the Conference at the moment as well, hence why i really, really hope we can dig ourselves out of the s
te! New supporters club coming in February after the old one burned down in 1995, so that will be an added revenue stream for us and hopefully will help to increase turnover and gradually allow us to build a sutainable club for the future!
Ever the optimist!

Yes, poor old Lincoln are not doing so well but really it is early days. I wouldnt worry too much about Hereford just yet.
Stockport have drawn 6 from 6 away this season and we lost to York on the weekend so it will be a mid season scrap this year. Not fussed. The club needs a few financially stable years before they can even hope to compete again. The road to conference was a very quick one with successive relegations. Oh well, such is life.
I just looked at Herefords for/against. Not a good sign. I recall Gillingham giving them a knock about so hopefully it was just that game.
I'll keep an eye out for them this year and for the colour of the boatshed. I trust you guys arent in financial strife?

Financially i think we're ok, which is at least something to be optimistic about! I was at the Gillingham game, they hammered us 6-1, not the best game i've been to it must be said! At least we saw some goals though, albeit from the wrong team!Stockport have drawn 6 from 6 away this season and we lost to York on the weekend so it will be a mid season scrap this year. Not fussed. Problem i think is we're suffering from The Simon Davey era where he brought in a couple of players on big wages that we have transfer listed and simply cant get rid of. Our new DoF said if we managed to shift those 2 on we could bring in another 4/5 players! Not the 2 respective players' fault of course, who wouldnt have taken the contracts? We could do with getting them off the books by January though so that we can strengthen during the transfer window. Heres hoping anyway!
Will be sure to look out for Stockport's results for the season!
Hard earned 3-3 draw at Swindon last Saturday and then a 2-0 victory at home to Bradford this week, things are looking up! If we can beat Barnet at home this week, we will be out of the relegation zone for the first time since the opening day of the season!
Barky had a good game on Saturday and does look to be growing in confidence with every game. A run of games seems to be doing him the world of good. He was very effective in the first half on Saturday and gives us some pace on the wing, which we had been severly lacking before his arrival. He runs tirelessly and has the ability to beat his man too. Was really pleased for him when he got the 2nd goal on Saturday as he did deserve it. Not sure how he would fare in the Championship with Blackpool, but if he can keep progressing here he could prove to be useful for you guys with his pace and chasing down the ball.

Swindon and Bradford are pretty good to man up to. Things are definately looking good.
Stockport were smashed 4-zip by Wrexham who are top. Quick question...
...where do you go if you are relegated from non league? We are two places above it. Pub League?
We will be out of the relegation zone if we beat Barnet this weekend, they are a bit of a bogey team for us, but here's hoping to a Bulls win on Saturday and the big morale boost that comes with it!Stockport were smashed 4-zip by Wrexham who are top. Quick question...

I could probably try and explain it, but i think the BBC sum up the non-league pyramid pretty well:

Good luck with Barnet. Is it on the radio anywhere?

Cheers mate, best of luck to you guys against Forest Green.

I would imagine it will be on BBC Hereford and Worcester 94.7 FM. Am not going to be able to make the game unfortunately as im going to be in Colchester so may have to take the radio option!
Another good result for the Bulls lastnight where they ran out 3-1 winners at Northampton. That makes it 3 wins out of 4 and 10 points out of a possible 12 since Gary Peters took over as Director of Football, cracking stuff!
We're now 4 points clear of the relegation zone and up to a nosebleed inducing 18th in the table! A big well done to everyone involved with the club and long may it continue. Up The Bulls!!!

Not counting my chickens just yet, but can't deny the huge improvement that has been made since he came in. All hail Gary!(answering the original question a bit late obviously)
