Some advice on the Nou Camp
Discussion
As it happens, a boys long weekend in Barcelona coincides with the el Clasico on the 25th January.
We are all big football fans and figured we are not likely to get this sort of opportunity again unless we make a special trip for the match, so we decided we would like to go.
Question is, how difficult are tickets likely to be to get hold of? My friends seem to think that we should even be able to buy on the day, or worst case scenario use a tout. Whilst there are bound to be ticket touts, is it likely that there will be tickets available on the day?

Depends on the match. All tickets are released on the internet 10 days beforehand, but seem to get bought by ticket agencies pretty quickly. Best to check the FC Barcelona website to check.
I bought 9 tickets from www.sportsemotions.com and they were pretty good and didn't load too much of a fee on top either.

"The tickets for the home game at the Camp Nou will go on sale on January 17, members without season tickets have priority."
Generally the tickets for the big games like this sell out very quickly. If you know somebody in Barcelona they can buy the tickets and print them out at cash points.

Hi, I live in Barcelona and with El Classico, it usually goes a little like this. Season ticket holders get their tickets... then some are available from the agencies you see above... then you can wander around the ground on the day before the match and be offered tickets at a high mark up. There is little point in trying through the official website as those tickets will go.
If you do buy blackmarket, check the ticket, where it is in the ground and that it's not a counterfeit (how you do this I don't know, but many people are disappointed.
If you do get to the game, on your way out on the metro, watch for pickpockets.... it's the only time they really go after locals... girl with a jumper over her arm, people barging their way into the carriage

Thanks for the various bits of advice chaps.
As it happens, we landed and headed straight for the stadium and milled about for a bit. The ticket office for the stadium tours told us that they were only selling online.
We were offered tickets by various touts at silly markups, but the problem is that there is no standard ticket, the style of the ticket depends on where it was bought so it's very difficult to verify. Then a chap who was nearby mentioned that aside from internet (we had no computer access) we could still try and buy from the ATM machines. We then spent close to 2 hours on the ATM machine trying to buy tickets, but the system had some lag and therefore we kept getting errors. Then close to giving up, we managed to score tickets at €155 each (which is what touts wanted for the face value €85 tickets!).
Awesome atmosphere and as luck would have it, all 4 goals were scored at the end we were sitting.
As an aside, what a lovely city!
