simple really.

you cant pick anyone who plays in the the euro 2012. they cant be internationally retired and you can only have 3 over 23s in the team. who would you pick?

GK - Craig Gordon (29) (Scotland)

RB - Adam Matthews (20) (Wales)
CB - Martin Kelly (21) (England)
CB - Nathaniel Chalobah (17) (England)
LB - Danny Rose (21) (England)

RM - Beckham (37) (England)
CM - Josh McEachran(19) (England)
CM - Aaron Ramsey(22) (Wales)
LM - Bale(22) (Wales)

ST - Connor Wickham (19) (England)
ST - Craig Bellamy(32) (Wales)

i based this on the fact that Rodwell and Chamberlin will be in the senior team for euro 2012

I'd find a space for James Forrest (20) Scotland

Promising young player

Has Craig Gordon recovered from his latest injury? If he's fit then yes, but he's not had much first team action in the past few years

Only 1 Scot and no Northern Irish?

Thats not a GB team and won't go down to well with those 2 nations.

scratchchin forums = debate, no?

Anyway, its much easier and more satisfying to pull yours apart in the absence of any original thoughts of my own.

Is it about players, or quota?

So you want quotas, or not? There are 4 welsh players, and a scot, as well as English players in a team put forward by a forum member, (not even the official line up).

What do you suggest makes up a GB team?

I think to the contrary....the Scottish are on record as saying they don't want their players to compete.

to quote from thsi article http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/intern...

However, the Welsh, Scottish and Northern Irish FAs are completely opposed to participation and, while they accept there is no legal basis to bar selection, dire warnings about the future of national teams are bound to be made.

A team with a fair representation of players from countries within GB, so at least 1 from each country.

OK... Population of 62 million. Scotland has 5.5 million... So about 8% of the team should be scottish. Wales has just over 3 million, so 5% of the team should be welsh. N. Ireland has 4.5, so has about 6% of the team?

Fair and representative?

Let's remove all but 1 of the Welsh player, and have a N. Ireland player, and the rest English?

nono

Its not about proportionality or all 11 players should be English - its about inclusivity.

Tell a nation (ie N.Ireland) that team GB represents them and they'll only get behind it if they can see one of their own in it.

And yet you complained that there was only one Scot. So who would you have for the squad, remembering that everyone needs to be made happy and feel important?
