Welbeck vs Balotelli
Discussion
I was sceptical about arsenal signing wellbeck given his scoring record BUT he was often played out of position and never got a good run of games.
He is VERY industrious and chases down a lot of balls, passes and holds up the ball well, is powerful and skill full and can finish. Don’t get me wrong there is room for improvement but he is better than I was expecting.
Balotelli is lazy, irritable and often gets sent off. He doesn’t work for the team and seems to have no desire or passion for the game or the club he pays for. I also imagine he is a very negative influence in the dressing room. He scored 1 in 3 for Milan (I think) and they sold him at a loss…that says it all.

I myself am a Welbeck man I his ability and overall game will also improve a lot under Arsene Wenger.
ATM he's the kind of player you want playing against defences that play high up the pitch although when we play against teams that will get all there players behind the ball he is not very effective and is an area of his game he needs to improve (first touch , clinical , awareness)

I'd actually have Balo.
He's one a group of few players that can destroy an opposition defence on his own. Granted, he hasn't yet done it for Liverpool. Watching him in the Euro's take the Germans apart though, was something special.
On his day he's in the group of players below the top two of Messi and Ronaldo.
He just needs a lot more application, which hopefully, he will get at Liverpool. I suspect he is a player that needs nurturing. Much like I imagine Suarez was when he first joined Liverpool.
He will come good, eventually.

Even on his best day his nowhere near Messi or Ronaldo. His too lazy, if it wasn't for his off field antics whilst at City, no one would have heard of him. He's one a group of few players that can destroy an opposition defence on his own. Have you actually watched him play football over the years? He's nothing more then a barely average striker as has been proved at every club he's been at. It his antics which has given him his reputation not his ability. He's one a group of few players that can destroy an opposition defence on his own. Granted, he hasn't yet done it for Liverpool. Didn't rate Welbeck at all at United but seeing him up close he's incredibly powerfull, quick and can finish a chance off. He also has one hell of an engine on him, doesn't stop working for the team. No contest who's a better player IMO.
Keep it going your just giving me more ammunition to fire at my mate who seems to idolise him and was given me grief about how it was such a bad decision for Arsenal not to buy him.
I think we have bought the better overall player in Welbeck and can carry more potential under Wenger as he will look to learn and Balotelli in my eyes wouldn't work that bit harder to improve

Welbeck.
Before Arsenal bought him I said i'd have him in my team at Liverpool.
Gives his all. Good presser. Shown he can finish.
Put 3 good attacking midfielders behind him and he will give you an option to put the ball through.
Balotelli, well, he isn't showing much at the moment. Unsure what kind of player he actually is right now.

I think Balotelli could be amazing with the right management. I don't think Brendon is that manager.
Last night on the Chelsea game, they were saying that Hazard's dad told Mourinho to be really aggressive to him and don't hold back as that was the way he learnt (if you were like me and played football during school/collage, there was always that metnal dad on the touchline barking at his son).
I think too many people pussy foot around Balotelli, and they just need to put him in his place. At least with Mancini there were moments of excellence depending on if there relationship was love or hate at the time.
In regards to Welbeck, tries hard, can tap in a ball to his credit in being in a good position. Should he be the striker for a team like Arsenal. No. Wilfred Bonny is a far better player.

From what I've seen of him this season, that isn't the case. Seems to me to be working very hard for the team, and has walked away from situations where opposition players are clearly trying to provoke him into a response. If he can find his finishing touch and keep doing the other stuff, he will be a fantastic signing. I hope he doesn't, as I want Liverpool to fail miserably.Snollygoster said:

You do know that Mourinho has already managed Balotelli?http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=JDEruS1D7VY
