The first round of the ticket ballot has been done today. Seems I have got 80% of the tickets I applied for. May have even scored myself a final ticket after working out the various options.

Anyone else applied?

Went to France 98, only just looked at the venues for next year. They look the same, although I don't believe Lille was a venue back then. Very tempted to go over there for a game (assuming England qualify), just depends on the venue location.
I did the ballot thing for tickets for Euro 2000 and ended up with a bunch of dud tickets that I couldn't even give away, I even had a semi-final ticket that a friend of mine living in Brussels couldn't get rid of, despite it being played there.
You planning on going over for the whole tournament based on the tickets you've been allocated ?

I applied for 4 different matches in different cities and looking at my bank account looks like I got them all. Should be a good few weeks. Travelling around France with the same people I went to Brazil with last summer.

Applied for (4x) Cat 4 tickets (the cheap ones) to all the quarters, semis and the final... didn't get any.
Didn't expect to applying for the cheap ones really, but oh well. Time to start planning a massive North America trip for next year instead.

If England don't get out of that group then there is something seriously wrong with the international set up.

This arrogance is exactly the problem with the England football set-up. From the fans right up to the higher management.

I could quite easily see England not winning a game in that group....

Jesus, where have you been for the last decade. Have you forgotten that in the last world cup group, Costa Rica got 7 times as many points as us.

Have you forgotten S. Africa. 2 draws against USA & Algeria, and a 1-0 over the mighty Slovenia, a country with a population that wouldn't exceed Oxford Street on a wet Tuesday, with us holding the ball by the corner flag for the last 10 mins to cling on the a narrow victory. And then thrashed by the German under 21s.

We are utter crap.

Good news for England with the new format.

wikipedia said:
To accommodate the expansion from a 16 team finals tournament to 24 teams, the format will be changed from that used in 2012 with the addition of two extra groups in the group stage, and an extra round in the knockout stages. The six groups (A to F) would still contain four teams each, with the top two from each group still going through to the knockout stage. In the new format however, the four best third-ranked sides would also progress, leaving 16 teams going into the new round of 16 knockout stage, ahead of the usual quarter-finals, semi-finals and final, and only 8 teams going out at the group stage

Well I ended up getting two games out of he tickets I applied for. Got portugal vs Hungary and England vs Slovakia!

I would expect us to come first out of that group. No doubt we'll sneak 2nd or come third. Group e is an awesome group. Do feel for Ireland though, they always seem to get a tough group when they qualify.

Looks like I've got tickets for Belgium vs Sweden then. Might also have some for Ukraine vs Poland the night before.

Not a great draw for England, should still go through.

Looks like I'm travelling to Bordeaux for the Slovakia game and then to Lens for the England match.

Didn't want to get England due to their fans. Have seen us play England 3 times and all occasions were unpleasant. I'm sure the majority of England fans are fine but it only takes a handful. I'm fully aware we have our own idiots too.

As to the game. England will rightly be favourites but if we have a full team then I'm confident we can be competitive.
