Yes, he had many areas of influence, modern football owes a lot to what he did in the past.

A character and also very clever, enthusiastic and modern thinking. Top football person.

A true legend. There are few who've had such an impact on the game in so many capacities across such an extended time period. Not everyone's cup of tea but I've always admired his like of stirring the pot too.

Sad news but he had a good innings and it's probably for the best given reports of his condition in recent years.

I wonder if you did a poll of, say 25-80 year olds, if there'd be a more recognised football figure across the generations?
