Our Wayne is out for 11 Man U games & two England friendlies they say.

Rooney has to be more than 100% fit to warrant him going to the Euro's

Personally i would't take him at all, with Kane, Vardy & Defoe & all playing well at the moment as well as Wellbeck & Sturridge looking like they are well on their way back.

I'd take Vardy over Rooney any day.

(No disrespect to Wayne, he's still a top player)

There are better strikers than him available now and his record in big tournaments isn't good.

Don't think Vardy would be that great in an England shirt. He didn't do much at the weekend when he was up front on his own apart from moan and now he's to busy showing off his new Bentley and basking in his new found fame.

As for Rooney, well when he's 100% fit he's a pretty decent captain but he remains the only player I've ever hurled abuse at as I can't stand stand the bloke.

It'd have to be Kane for me.

Nowhere near the miss he would have been even two years ago, options are just so much better. Still unless Hodgson can make the midfield work it won't matter.

It's funny when Roy could choose a front 4 of any of Sturridge, Kane, Vardy, Sterling, Alli, Barkley, Walcott, Ox, we are still having a conversation of how we NEED to find a way to get Rooney in.

It's why we are terminal losers...not willing to be ruthless enough.

How is he going to achieve that? How can anyone? Why the apostrophe is Euros?

I have this feeling about Vardy, he sets the PL alight with some great goals superb movement, but i bet as soon as he pulls on an England shirt he will be ste. Its what our players do

That'll be because he'll get chucked out on the left wing and asked 'to do a job' rather than play where he's been playing all year for his club.

Square pegs, round holes like fking always. Drives me nuts!

Vardy plays brilliantly in a team that is well drilled, disciplined and executes a game plan which to a decent extent relies on his pace.

The chances of Hodgson building a team that can do that?!

Agree with this and is a huge point for me. People a waxing lyrical on Vardy and I agree he has been brilliant this season, but he plays in a Leicester team who play in a certain way and look to hit teams on the break. Do England play that way? No. Rooney is the England captain and if he is fit he will play in the Euro's.

For me Hodgson has to look at the pool of players available to choose from, decide on the formation/style of play for England and then choose the players to best fit in that team and execute the plan.

Vardy would be a great player off the bench, but shouldn't start. I would go with Kane or Rooney as they play more in the style that England naturally set-up. If we took 4 strikers and they were fit then i would take Rooney, Kane, Vardy, and Walcott.

Sturridge can't play 2 games in a row let alone constant games in a tournement, and Welbeck has just come back from huge injury but I suspect he will go in the squad.

Im just hoping we dont start with a midfield of Henderson/Wilshere or Milner. Dier, Ali and Barkley in the midfield for me.

Hodgson is clueless. His entire career has been mediocre. He's an average manager that is capable of transforming a poor team in to an average one and a good team into an average one....I'm not holding out much hope that's he's going to over-achieve this time after 30 years of meh..I'm sure he'll take Rooney if he's any where near fitness.

Everything you said is the exact opposite of what Roy will do, and it's what every England manager has done since Venables or maybe Hoddle got the boot.

Roy will pick a formation he wants to play and then he'll shoehorn in the players he likes or feels like will need to be in so the media don't get on his back.

As for the Vardy comment about playing in a team that plays on the counter...isn't this exactly what England should figure out as you know once they play anyone good, that's exactly what he'll have the team doing!
