African Cup of Nations
Discussion
Love this tournament just for the sheer joy of the players from the smaller nations when they score. Was toying with going this year (Egypt) but didn't.
Wish I had now. Madagascar have just come back from a goal down to Guinea to lead 2-1. I know Madagascar is huge but in footballing terms, this is the first time they've qualified. And the players have had to pay their own fares (and it's a f
king long way to Egypt).
It's just a shame they aren't called the Lemurs. They're called the Zebus (some Madagascan antelope thingy. Lemurs are far cooler).
I once went to Japan v Uzbekistan in Tokyo but Guinea v Madagascar would have topped that for sheer randomness.

Always enjoy watching a bit of AFCON. Some things never change like Nigeria having team dramas (illness this year), and Herve Renards white shirt...
Madagascar were pretty good last night, they seemed very well organised and were unlucky not to get the win. Burundi seemed ok too - no pushovers so far this year despite nations playing for the first time.

The Ugandan right back that played number 5 last night (Bevis Mugabi) was released by Yeovil Town as a cost-cutting measure a few weeks ago.
He get's released by Yeovil but still makes the national side! And is probably their star player. You can understand why players like Drogba and Mo Salah, premier league stars, are like gods back home. Yeah, hysterically funny.
As said, clearly many brown envelope's distributed around in the hosts favour in their matches en route to the final, and even more so, with that disallowed Senegal goal followed by that penalty decision.
Ludicrous scenes, but you can understand the anger from the Senegalise.
And then that farcical penalty by Diaz, what an utter plonker
Poetic justice for Senegal, and then they go and score a blinder......and now the most outrageous goal miss to wrap it up at 2-0.
Mad match.

Yup that, ridiculous decisions by the ref, but then thats happened all through the tournament for the hostsAs said, clearly many brown envelope's distributed around in the hosts favour in their matches en route to the final, and even more so, with that disallowed Senegal goal followed by that penalty decision.

Absolutely disgraceful carry-on last night. An incompetent ref (and all the other officials too) and ridiculous behaviour by Senegal (apart from Mané).
As said above, once a team walks off the pitch, the match is over and the game becomes a walkover. In fact, if I was a ref, I would have red-carded the entire Senegal team.
