6th in the league under Eustace, goals aplenty. The comedy of sacking Eustace and then bringing in Rooney and seeing the team embark on a winless run of six. Sliding down the league, how does he get the work?

Birmingham have just got new American owners and Rooney was quite popular in the US with DC United. Can only presume they thought putting him in place would be a good thing to attract fans from the US market.

Birmingham appointed Gianfranco Zola some years back too and a similar thing happened then. Maybe it's just a Birmingham thing
