Inter Milan vs Atletico Madrid: first ever European tie!

It’s almost impossible to believe, but these two regular European protagonists had never played each other in any of the three UEFA tournaments until this evening. Considering both clubs have qualified for European competition nearly every year for the past 65 years and generally do quite well, it seems unfathomable that their paths had never previously crossed.

Their only match prior to this was the Super Cup in 2010, so a glorified one-off friendly in Monaco.

Nearly watched that last night, ended up watching the third part of the Columbia disaster.

Not particularly. It was a slow burner, as most expected. Second leg should be more spicy.
