Female commentators

I find them infuriating. They have their own much hyped football leagues now. I don’t want to hear them talking about elite men’s football, especially when you can see them reading notes and receiving instructions through their earpieces because they simply do not have the knowledge and experience on the game.
I don't follow football but have a quick look at this WC. I do follow motorsports and along with the football I have noticed a significant increase in the proportion of female commentators.
What is apparent is the skill gap between female and male. In many motorsport settings, F1 and MotoGP as examples the female contributions are so inexperienced and lacking in knowledge it's a distraction overall.
Listening to Le Mans coverage a couple of weeks ago they had outstanding male contribution alongside woeful female. I could have done better as an absolute ameteur.
Like all things recruit on talent and skill , specific gender is not a requirement.

I don't know why, but I can't watch a match with a female commentator. Tonight's game, Australia vs Egypt, had one and I turned it off. They just seem to squeal and squeak unnecessarily. Sorry but no.
I don't watch football but I clicked on the Aus v Egypt penalty shootout live on the BBC website and the first thing I heard was a screeching sound which I immediately muted.Now I know what it was
Didn't watch the game initially referred to but in all honesty I don't mind. I tend to leave the sound on fairly low, sometimes with music on the headphones and sound off.
Is there not an option now where you can mute the commentary anyway?
No longer watch F1, never been the same since Murray retired.
Moto GP took my interest around the mid 1990's with Toby & Jules who were so much better than Hodgson & Co but I'd keep Suzy Perry, she ties the programmes together well, a good interviewer and knowledgable.

There are some excellent female commentators in cricket, as well as players, and there have been for years.
The standard of commentary in this World Cup is generally poor, male or female. I think this is because football is so rarely on the ‘major’ channels nowadays, all the decent commentators have gone to Sky or TNT where the work is.

Slightly off-topic but on BBC they offer the option to watch with radio 5 live commentary. This has the advantage that even boring games can be exciting and you can be doing something else at the same time but if something interesting is about to happen (e.g. shot on goal etc) you simply look up at the screen. And I think the 5 live commentators are all blokes!

There are at least two female radio 5 commentators I don't find them any worse overall - certainly no worse than some of the ex-pro co-commentators that they have had droning on for years.
But then I actually like Ally McCoist.
