forester remote key fob

I have a 2005 Forester 2.0XT, and I want to change the battery in the remote key fob before it expires. It has one button only, and looks like this (top picture).

Will it work after changing batteries, or will I have to programme it afterwards? If so, what would be the procedure? Also, what is the battery type?

You should be ok to change batteries. I'm sure it's a non-volatile memory in the key fob. Just make the change of battery as swift as you can.....just in case
