Legacy Spec B - check engine + cruise warning lights lit

Wondering if anyone has any thoughts. The check engine warning light has come on, and the cruise warning light is flashing. Cruise control has stopped working, but otherwise the car seems absolutely fine. It's a 2005 sports tourer, 107,000 miles. Doesn't usually miss a beat. Cheers

I had that with our last one - dealer says it's often down to low oil level and a cam sensor iirc so worth checking it out - in our case it wasn't though - got it reset and carried on - never happened again.

Could be anything really. The cruise light flashing is linked to the check engine light....just means its inoperative until the problem clears.

You'll need to get the codes pulled which should point you in the right direction

Mine had it, was just a sensor gone bad. No effect on engine performance etc.

Thanks everyone! The oil level is OK. After speaking to the garage I think it maybe the oxygen sensor. If it fails, it disables the cruise as a safety measure. Seems to run ok, so unless we get any further problems, I will live with it until we return home.

sensors, had the same. I believe there are two.

Same happened to me, bad lambda sensor. Both are very easy to change.

If I take my forester 2.5xt out for hard drive it'll sometimes start the next day with that light combo. Everythimg runs and sounds fine though. After a couple of drives the light goes off again. Random!
