I have had a weather station for a few years now (Oregon Scientific) and thinking of buying a more up to date with windspeed/ rainfall indicator etc. What can anyone recommend for around £50 to £100?

I bought one a few years ago, about £75-80 I think.

Put the wind speed thingie on the aerial bracket on the roof, placed the rain collector properly too. There were wires snaking about to these two and the external thermometer places under the eaves and down to the study with the base unit.

The bracket on the wind vane broke, the rain monitor seized up and the thermometer started playing up all within a couple of years.

I decided that if I consider getting another I'll need to spend quite a bit more than I did the first time.

We've had the Fine Offset WH1090 for several years and it's been 100% reliable. You may need to tweak the wind direction indicator to reduce "fluttering". There's a newer model that also records sunshine hours and has solar panels to recharge the sender.

Lots of info on the subject (and a good alternative to the bundled software called Cumulus) at http://sandaysoft.com/forum/

One does need to spend a bit more on a full weather station. I've had a WMR928NX for almost ten years now but that was massively over your budget, and has been replaced in the line-up. The Davis Pro models are also good and way out of your price range.
