This seems to be a real major science story that for some odd reason is given little or no airtime.

A species that ran parallel to us.

The bit that the article completely missed is the really important bit, H.erg, H.rudo and H.hab lived in close proximity in SE Africa, whereas later H.neand, H.ere and H.sap were separated hugely in comparison, this leads to some intriguing points for speculation.

And there was me thinking you were on about Chavs being declared as a new species.

There are now people that do not get wisdom teeth. The next generation are here and living amongst us.

Or sometimes just a pair. In fact the human jaw is rarely big enough for 32 teeth to fit comfortably, so it's no bad thing.

I seem to regularly see "people" who I'm sure aren't the same species as I am.

Are you insinuating a case for polygenesis? I thought this was frowned upon, regardless of possible evidence?

I did read 'Morningside" as 'Merseyside" and expected the same thing.

No, the latter groups are much later; it's a case of migration not polygenesis. These guys had legs!

On the subject of different species interbreeding; well, it depends how you define a species, but the usual one IIRC is that different species cannot interbreed (ie produce viable offspring), and if they can, they they are two races of the same species.

It's a bit arbitrary though. There are cases where A can interbreed with B, and B with C, but not A with C.
