Can platinum be magnetic? My Physics background says not but the OH has two platinum rings, both sold as such, but one is strongly attracted to a magnet.

I can find out for you tomorrow I know a jeweller, but I wouldn't have thought so, and wikipedia don't think so either

Platinum in jewellery isn't 100% pure; just like gold it's alloyed with other metals in varying proprotions according to cost - in this case possibly nickel.

Not ferromagnetic, no. I think Platinum-Cobalt's a common jewelry alloy though.
