I've seen a few similar machines in old industrial gas plants (in the UK and Eastern Europe)..

I remember an old Donkin compressor (HPC Chesterfield) that had its original design from the 1920s! This provided Nitrogen blanketting to Shell next door in Carrington, Manchester and is probably still working today.
