Solar Eclipse - Today 8 April

No discussion so far so thought I'd open a thread. It won't be visble from my part of the UK but some PHers, if they live in the western part of Scotland, western England, Wales or Ireland might see it as a partial eclipse.

And if anybody is in Mexico and North America, you should see a total eclipse if you live under the path of totality.

I saw one last October in south Texas.

Because America I guess… most bonkers thing I saw was 300 couples in Arkansas holding a mass wedding, all saying ‘I do’ at the moment the moon passed in front of the sun…

I'm in Vegas today. This never gets mentioned but one of the coolest effects of an eclipse is seeing the light come through a tree. The gaps in the leaves act like a pinhole camera. Here's a pic I took earlier to demonstrate.

I remember the day as if it was yesterday... On the exact date of Saturday 7 August 1998 I was reading my then paper boy delivered copy of the Daily Telegraph and it was mentioned that Devon and Cornwall would experience a total solar eclipse one year ahead on Wednesday 11 August 1999. I immediately called Travelodge and booked a room at Plymouth and the operator couldn’t understand why I wanted to book more than a year in advance. I told them that they would be busy.

I was at Exeter Airport for that one. Didn’t get the full totality there but it went pretty dark and cold and the birds started roosting in the trees.

Last one I saw in the SE of the UK was 90's from memory.

I have also seen an eclipse of the moon which was pretty mad too, moon all red and looked like a sphere for once.
