A tool that help stretch caliper boot? (honda rear caliper)
Discussion
The rear caliper of a S2000 has a design where the piston can only go back in when it is screw/twisted, like a screw.
While my friend is trying to fit new boot/seal back in, he was struggling to get the seal over the piston by himself, he had to stretch out the boot/seal with both hands(fingers) while a third hand(me) line up the piston and push it in a bit, then twist/screw the piston back in.
After many failed attempts...
We were wondering is there a special tool that can grab and stretch the boot/seal so it's easier to rebuild a honda rear caliper...like a mini version of a CV gun...

Almost all calipers with a built in handbrake mechanism are like this.slowx said:

Did you put plenty of grease on the piston/boot? Use either silicone based or red rubber grease, not standard mineral oil based grease. After many failed attempts...

Thanks for the advice.
Yes, he did use grease applied on the piston, but the main problem is the seal/boot needed to be stretched out before the piston could go in, if only one hand is doing the stretching and the other is held onto the piston for positioning, then there is not enough stretch to put piston in, that's when a third hand comes in to help...
It took us about 5mins on each side, when we finished the first thing we thought of is how on earth can a single person do it, is there a special tool out there? Is there a technique?

Thought about how lambs tails are docked.
Look at about 40 seconds into the video.
The tool is called an elastrator but may be a bit small for a piston seal and not sure if it would damage it
