Central Door locking keeps popping open
Discussion
replaced the driver's door solenoid, yet when I go to click the door button on the Clifford alarm fob, the doors lock then immediately unlock.
I had noticed a plastic arm that was loose on the lock and clipped it back on.
Wondering if the passenger door solenoid has a fault, and needs replacing as the 2 are linked via the Clifford ?
and hence the real issue was with the passenger door :-(
or their is a fault with the driver's door lock (mechanical) ?
The solenoids were the generic eBay ones for around £5 each, but they seem to be what's fitted to the car as standard, from what I can see.
(held on with one screw and a tie wrap - not the best solution)

I think you will find the door solenoids aren't standard but have been addedI had noticed a plastic arm that was loose on the lock and clipped it back on.

The solenoids in the front doors and boot will all have switch contacts in them that will operate the central locking if a door button is pressed down or pulled up or the boot opened (the boot may not have switch contacts and may not be wired)
You need to disconnect each solenoid one at a time leaving the others connected until you have proven which one is causing the problem, if the problem is not solved by disconnecting one at a time then there is a very good chance that the door wiring is shorting out or broken where it hinges from post to door
If the problem is solved by disconnecting the solenoids on at a time you will then have to determine if its a mechanical fault like a stuck mechanism or a solenoid is faulty
You can always swap front door solenoids from left to right to prove more
car is 2 door only, boot was closed during tests
I tried to lock the passenger door with a key, and it will do it after several attempts, as I can hear the solenoids trying to close then open again - this gives me the impression the passenger side is fine.
When I try to lock the drivers side with the key, the solenoid noise isn't there.
AND the door lock doesn't actually engage either !
I will need to investigate more, but this is giving me the impression that the door lock is broken.
The push button latch works ok, but the key turn lock isn't working.
I was also wondering if the solenoid doesn't engage because the rod needs some sort of adjustment.
need to look into how the lock actual works a bit more I think.
