Seriously - stop putting your prices up and then emailing everyone with discount codes. It's getting tiresome.
Your prices are always the same, you just have to use the right code at the right time.

Car Parts 4 Less (presumably the same company?) aren't quite as bad...but you still have to use the right codes.

It's a shame because they do offer a great service otherwise, and their web site is usually spot on.
The guys in branch are also very helpful (especially the chap in the Aylesbury branch).

This is how the car parts industry works
there's the 'retail' price and the trade price, this allows garages to make a reasonable margin on parts while appearing to just supply the at cost price.
You've always been able to ask for a fairly big discount at part suppliers just for the asking.

If ECP dropped thier prices rather than joining in the game they won't get much business from garages.

GSF are just as bad, had to block them due to the amount of discount code spam they used to send me.

Meh. They can price however they like. There are always codes available anyway.

I have a local garage who are happy with me supplying my own parts and they charge a fair rate for labour. Jobs seem to be completed promptly, and they are very honest about any delays and issues.

In the good old days ECP and GSF were cheap.

Then they were taken over and the prices went up - sales dropped when people realised they weren't cheap and the vouchers were borne.

GSF are local to me and every weekend I get an Email with a discount of 42-48% off, for that weekend only.

Yet if I need something in the week they won't discount - so I go elsewhere - how the hell does that work for them ?

It is irritating, I always just stick stuff in my basket and then wait for a "sale".

50% off oil so I've ordered 8l of Petronas Syntium for £26, can't argue with that.

And the discount code never applies to parts I want like clutch kit and flywheels.

yes Agreed.

ECP/CP4L are my 'go to' place for parts, especially with free (quick) delivery is very welcome.

The constant 'sale' and voucher situation is tiresome however.

I agree the constant barrage of discount code e-mails gets wearing, though at work we have a laugh at how much and how long for. However the latest 'code' came in at the right time as the Alfa's just failed it's MOT on a rear wheel bearing so £50 off came in handy.

As for service, I couldn't be happier though, three months back I had to change a rear wheel bearing on the Rover, there was two versions available, on the face of things they looked the same, box & product shot on the website, in all but price (even the box when I got it). Went for the cheaper version but it turned out to be the wrong bearing (came with a flat ABS ring as to the angled version that was needed), turned out the more expensive one (to the tune of £30) was the right one. Fetched up at the local ECP depot in Durham, they did a check, looked at the website and did a swap agreeing that the provided infor was wrong, I didn't even have to pay the difference in price.

I thought there was a 400% markup on parts at places like ECP. So even with 50% discount they're still on over 100%.

i get most of my parts from ECP. Only one bad experience really when they gave me a used clutch! which wasnt great - they didnt believe me at first then my mechanic phoned them who was well known to them to confirm and they jumped in the van and delivered a new one within the hour which was good of them.

I was after a stepper motor the other week for my car - it was about the £50 mark once I'd added the codes i think it was around half of that. Which is great.

What is annoying with ECP is the "Did you forget something" emails...

Guess what though, if you continue to ignore those 1 day later you get a 15% of code to finish! and that applies to all products..

Rather buy decent parts and not deal with having to replace the ste they sell let alone their "offers".
Just had to replace expansion bottle and now a tensioner on the way out, they're both 10k miles old and ecp st fitted by previous owner.

No matter what the discount at ECP I can always find the same item cheaper elsewhere, usually via ebay.

The thing is you often have a choice between branded or cheapo stuff, your call.

With GSF your never quite sure what your getting.

We are a garage and Euro offer that many discount codes and deals online the general public get their stuff cheaper than Euros trade accounts. Bit of a joke and you have to really keep an eye on the prices.

They are certainly pushing to try and take over the Halfords type products and services in my opinion.
