I left my old car (honda 04 Civic Sport) sitting for a couple of weeks after it failed its MOT for a few minor issues. (Ok, I admit it was sitting for 5 months and I jump started it twice in that period to move it around)

Anyway it sat for a month after I moved it to my new house, it wouldn't start so I decided to jump start it. Whilst turning the igntion (with the jump leads connected) I *think* i heard a pop.

Now however much I charge it by another car - there is no sign of life in the ignition (no lights, no noise, no clicking etc) - are there any easy, simple things I can check as I dont think its the starter or battery (both having been replaced last year)?

I was hoping to use this car to start 'learning the ropes' and get into home mechanics - but if i can't fix this what hope do I have :-(

Are you willing and able to investigate with a voltmeter?

Some cars have a master fusible link, google this. Were your leads connected the right way around?

I was just about to say the same as I was reading down.

Especially if there are no lights or anything.

pretty sure the cables where the right way round. I tried to jump it and then neighbours did on a seperate occasion.

I also cleaned all the battery heads and connectors.

For future reference - the battery had died....

Replaced FOC by Eurocar parts.
