AC compressor Working But No Cold Air -Help!
Discussion
Hi,
I've got two issues with my 2003 Kia Sorento 2.5 CRDI XS climate control system. AC refilling guys couldn't figure out the issue. So I thought I'd find out from you experts before I take it to the AC repairing people and they empty my pocket.
A. No cold air when air con is turned on.
- checked for any leaks and regassed twice
- compressor clutch is engaging okay
B. Heater blowing a little warm air when temp set to 33. At 25, its not warm at all. Cant get any hot air!
- no water leak
- radiator water level is consistant
Would the tiny radiator/evaporator core ( ? ) inside the blower unit be blocked? I don't think there'd be a correlation between AC and Heating connections.
I'd appreciate highly, if any one can advise me where to start from.
Thanks

Diagnosing cars by text message is a mugs game at the best of times, doubly so if youve already had a professional look at it.
FWIW though the hot air or lack of is a good starting point. From memory that matrix is a full flow type so even whem the engine is cold its getting coolant through it. Hence I'd look for an airlock in it (ever heard a gurgling sound behind the dash?) And then look to see if the doors that control air flow are actually moving across the full range of motion.
Both those can account for what you have described.
Good luck.

I had a similar problem with my old 08 Ceed
Researching indicated a few other models of Kia and Hyundai had the same problem.
Mine was the Motor inside the Temperature Blend Actuator had failed.
Got a replacement Actuator from Korea but was for LHD and worked backwards. Ended up using the Motor.
Other with the same fault replaced with a Standard 12V Motor for a few £

Try searching Youtube for Kia/Hyundai Blend, Mix or Temperature Actuator.
I would imagine your Sorrento shares AC parts with other Kias and Hyundais. Something on there should give you some pointers.
With Actuator removed, you should be able to move the Blend Door from full cold to full heat manually.

Thank you very much guys!
No, I don't think I hear any gurgling sound behind the dashboard. I'll youtube and check for an airlock, to start with
I think I can sort out the actuator motor and hope it'd be located around the blower behind the glow compartment.
