Hello. New to this and definitely not a car expert (as the detail below will demonstrate!)

Topped up engine oil prior to a holiday drive. Somehow did not remember to replace oil filler cap. Have now returned from holiday and looked under bonnet to discover my mistake.

I have ordered a replacement oil filler cap from Mazda (it's a Mazda 5, 2006). Big issue now is that the entire engine, bonnet and everything else is covered in oil.

What's the best way of dealing with the cleaning?

Thanks in advance.

Be gentle with me. I know I'm an idiot!

It's the inside of the engine I would be worried about, not the outside!

Do wait until you have the new cap before using that pressure wash!

Meanwhile, you have the best corrosion protected Mazda in the UK!

Spilt engine oil does not do the rubber of hoses, engine mounts etc any favours at all.
